The Rishon LeZion Foundation, in cooperation with the Rishon LeZion Municipality, is working to establish a center for the LGBTQ community in the city.
The project’s goal is to establish a permanent home for holding activities for the community, advice and counseling for community members and their families, holding events, meetings and providing close support for those in need of an attentive ear and a shoulder to lean on, through a professional staff.
As part of the interim process, members of the community are working from the Foundation’s offices, in order to obtain a solution and assistance.
The Foundation is also acting for the establishment of a pre-military academy (mechina), in cooperation with IGY (Israel Gay Youth), which provides close, personalized support for the LGBTQ community’s youth. The mechina’s purpose is to create a framework in which teens can study and volunteer before their service.
City Councilwoman Ilanit Harush is closely following and supporting the activity.
